In honor of Halloween, we’ve decided to round up our favorite rooms and products that incorporate the hue of the holiday – black!

We love the moodiness and drama that black paint and décor can add to a room, but we also know the bold design move isn’t for everyone. So we’ve rounded up 5 ways to get into the spooky spirit for all the inspiration you need to try the moody hue in your own way.

Spooky Style, Sans Skeleton

Black paint can elevate a spook level and sophistication level at the same time. Whether it’s used on an accent wall in your favorite room, a high gloss finish on your office built-ins, or a tile in your powder room, there’s no nook in your home that couldn’t use some spook.

Lady is a Vamp – Black Accent Walls

There’s something alluring about a black wall – it’s intriguing, sophisticated, and edgy, yet it doesn’t take away from the warmth of a room. It’s like the black cat of the interior design world – beautiful, seemingly dangerous, but actually all fluff and cuddles. Take a look at some of our bold clients who used the black accent wall for some drama in their home:

Briana’s home office got a Halloween makeover for year-round spook with a black accent wall and comfy orange reading chair. Bonus points to her designer for nailing the iconic orange and black combo!

Phantom of the Opera meets jungle cat glam in this client's bedroom. It’s the mdf trim moulding, mid-century modern French candle chandelier, and leopard print combo for me!

Not sold on the stark black paint? Try this dark charcoal color with a gallery wall for a more subtle take on the accent wall like our client Yaminah did in her home office.

Justina Blakeney, designer and founder of Jungalow, designed this bohemian oasis using our partner Loloi Rugs’ Priti Rug. If Justina Blakeney says black walls are the bee’s knees, who are we to argue?

Dabble in Dia De Los Muertos – Day of the Dead

In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, it’s only fitting that we pay homage to the stunning artistry that is decor used on Dia De Los Muertos, or the day in which the people of Mexico remember and celebrate loved ones who have passed on.

Decorate your black accent wall with a gallery of vibrant Latinx art using some of our favorite pieces in Collov Home’s Marketplace like the Pembrooke by Janet Hill and the Frida Kahlo

For those who need skeletons in their life this time of year, colorful Mexican skulls, small statues of the elegant Las Catrinas dressed in black lace, and candles galore are iconic to the Day of the Dead and make for vibrant additions to your home.

Haunted Mansion Vibes

Nothing says “Welcome, foolish mortals” like a Haunted Mansion inspired room. Get the Victorian floating head feel by adding busts sculptures to your bookshelf, entryway table, or console top. It adds the elegance of a museum with the all too familiar chill of the nostalgic tombstone heavy Disney theme park ride. I look at these designs and can’t help but sing the Rockwell ballad, “I always feel like, somebody’s watchin’ me!”

What’s creepier than feeling like the eyes in a painting are following you? A portrait painting whose eyes have been blindfolded! Josh Young, artist extraordinaire and frame layering master, has made the swiped stripe across the eyes high fashion in the world of historical figure portraits. We can’t deny the refined sophistication layered in haunted mansion elegance in this room.

Elevate your bedroom into a Victorian masterpiece with a high gloss finish canopy bed and crystal chandelier like our client Beth did.

Or make abstract art the focal point of your dining room for that Thriller feeling. Our client Kyle did just that with a line art piece of ghoulish faces in her Scandinavian design.

You can also find more haunted mansion pieces in our Collov Marketplace like these Noir paintings of French circus ringmasters or antique-like brass lorgnette magnifying spectacles.

Black Tile is the new Black Tie

Our client Tiffany put the flair in self-care when she added chevron black tile as the backdrop to her standing glass shower. Collov designers paired it with an ornate gold leg porcelain tub. Needless to say, Tiffany will be dripping in Draculian luxury when she’s done bathing – that is, if she ever checks out. *Insert chilling laugh and Hotel California lyrics here.*
