In honor of Black History Month, the Interior Design team is spotlighting the narratives, works, and craft traditions of Black architects, designers, and creatives.

Let's start with one of our very own interior designers, Paige Joseph. 

Paige uses her creative lens when designing for her clients. She will take the time understand her client - not just understanding the rituals of their daily life, but also deeply understanding what inspires them and motivates them to take on the day. Take her design below for example.

Her client Emma wanted fresh new furniture to go with her new wood flooring. After a live discussion with Emma, Paige believed a mix of eclectic and bohemian design elements would be freeing for Emma's spiritual and bold nature. She used materials like rattan, live edge wood, leather, and textures to create her sanctuary, but was sure to incorporate a few punches of color for those bursts of creative inspiration.

Down to the detail of an art gallery wall, Paige made sure Emma had daily reminders to allow her creative nature to run wild and free. Check out all of Paige's designs her on Our Designs page.

It’s always a good time to celebrate the accomplishments and incredible work of Black creators – but especially so upon the arrival of Black History Month. From designers to artists, let's take a look at the names you should know outside of our company to get inspired.

Nicole Gibbons is another powerhouse and boss lady in the industry. She founded Clare as a streamlined alternative to the many, messy steps of painting. From samples that you simply stick to the wall to paint and supplies delivered right to your door, it’s certain to save you time. If only it could paint the walls for you too!

Cortney Herron offers a plethora of prints that range from abstracts to inspirational messages to colorful portraits. This artist has a piece to liven up just about any space. And finally, we'd like to introduce you to The Black Home, the brainchild of designer Neffi Walker. It features everything to make your home more stylish, from DIY ideas to a line of very cool candles to fabulous gold flatware. Neffi is an accomplished Afro-Latina interior designer who focuses on the Black cultural experience. She uses her talents and skillsets to advocate for change and inspire the masses to do the same. We simply adore her.
