Wellness is a bit of a buzzword these days, but if you think about it, it’s for good reason. We live in a faster paced world than ever before, we are always available to others in ways like never before, meaning less time and space for just us, and less time and space for our families too.
More, more, faster, better–sure, it’s cool to be able to get things done faster, be more productive, or connect with anyone anytime–but it’s also draining.
At the end of the day, we’re all just humans, doing our best, and sometimes, we need some rest to be our best. This has always been true, it just so happens that this is more true now than it ever has been.
We explored ways in which your home’s decor may be influencing your ability to fully relax, reset, and rest. Now, here are some ways our interior designers can help:
Kelsey's home before and individual pieces had potential but lacked some oomph to pull it together
Kelsey's home still has her couch and beloved wall art in it, but the design brings consistency to the space and overall elevates the mood, making it bright, cheery, and relaxed, while showing off that wall art even more.
1. They help surround you with things you love. Being surrounded by things you love can help you feel warmer and happier at home. Whether it’s a bedframe you simply love, a handmade jar you picked up while traveling, or a candle from your favorite artisan company, things you love help make your home into a place you love being with. That’s why at Collov, your designer will work to create not just a beautiful design but a home design that screams you, with unlimited redesigns. We’ll also design around decor and furniture you already own for free.
2. They can create layouts perfect for your lifestyle. Just moving your furniture can make a huge difference to how you interact with your space and with your family. It can be as simple as turning the sectional or rearranging chairs–that could be all it takes to get you and your loved ones to use your space more or just enjoy it more. Sometimes when a room has been in a particular layout though, it can be hard to reimagine. Professionals are attune with what different layouts can do to a space (for example, one layout can introduce more seating if you like having guests, one can be cozier for the family if you don’t), so a designer can help, and a 3D render, which is a crazy realistic 3D image, of your space can help visualize it without moving things around.
3. They can find ways to add more storage to help you destress. If you have a lot of people in your house, chances are, you might need more storage and not even notice it. Those things left on the table can easily go in a drawer, those books could easily be part of the decor and be put on a bookshelf. Just like it can be hard to get work done when your desk is cluttered, clutter can get in the way of us enjoying ourselves. Our interior designers are familiar with the different needs of different individuals and families, and can help with storage solutions.
Helen's home before was a bit disjointed and purely practical.
Helen's home after boasts a space for kids and adults will love alike. We used Helen's couches and designed around them, and used her children's beloved books as part of the decor to emphasize the them, not hide them.
4. They can help pull together things you love to make them shine more. Just like a favorite outfit can be elevated with the right pair of shoes, sometimes you have things you love, but something is missing to bring it all together. It could be as simple as just some pillows, decor, and some accent chairs to do this little pick-me-up, but sometimes when you have been staring at the same things for too long, it can help to get the fresh eyes of a professional interior designer.
5. Visualizing furniture in a space before buying reduces the stress of buying, tracking shipments, and returning. That’s where a handy 3D render comes in–it takes a lot of the stress out of furniture buying to be able to see furniture and decor in a lifelike image of your own home.
6. They can help you pick out the right, more comfortable furniture. Is that back too low for my grandmother to be comfortable? Is that leather soft? Most of us don’t know the nuance of different furniture. Luckily, our interior designers are familiar with materials, styles, and brands and can recommend the right pieces for your lifestyle from the 200+ brands we work with.
Jessica's home before. You can tell she enjoys blues, rustic elements, and things that remind her of nature, but the overall scheme was lacking
Jessica's home after we worked with her includes her coffee table, blues but in a more peaceful hue, and elevated art inspired by nature.
7. They can help you make your home feel like yours. There are beautiful homes in the world, but none quite like yours. Pinterest may be the perfect display of other people’s homes, but what is your dream home like? Our style quiz and your interior designer will help you figure your style out, whether you have no idea what it is or, or have a strong sense of taste–and then bring it to life.
We have personal trainers, health coaches, and doctors to help with our physical wellness, therapists and life coaches to help with our mental wellness...why would we not have someone coach us on how to make our homes our happiest places?
We think we do!
