There's something you might not know about me–I am a recovering insomniac. Needless to say, over the last 2+ years, I have tried anything that can make you sleep better personally, and want to share 4 ways to make your bedroom more sleep-friendly, including some rather unusual suggestions. Of all the things I tried, here are some of the most tried and true ways to make your bedroom sleep-friendly for better Zzzs.
1. Get a grounding mat
Huh? A grounding mat you say? Yup, what I said! What's that, you ask? A grounding mat is based on the premise that, like we get vitamin D naturally from the sun, we also get some sort of electrons from the earth, but we can't access them using most modern shoes. While not cheap, a grounding mat is a great way to bring the earth, right to your bed for seriously better sleep. No kidding!

2. Try flannel sheets
Do you wake up because you are feeling hot? The body naturally cools down when you are in REM and heats up slowly to wake you up. If you're not regulating your temperature that well while sleeping, while not the prettiest, flannel sheets are a good way to do so, and have an added cozy feel, which is nice. If you don't like the way they look, hide them with sleeker pillowcases, like silk or satin, which are also conveniently better for your hair and skin.

3. Create a soothing, safe atmosphere
No joke, creating an air of relaxation in your bedroom can leave you feeling better and more relaxed when inside of it, resulting in better sleep. Ask anyone who just moved and went from an empty room with a mattress on the floor to a full room of furniture and decor that makes them happy–the way you feel while awake in your room makes a difference to how comfortably you sleep. Allow yourself to feel soothed and safe in your room with the objects around you. See this home

4. Take screens out OR use 99.99% blue light blocking glasses
We've all heard it. Screens have no place in the bedroom, and yet many of us have TVs in our bedrooms, may be working in our bedrooms, or enjoy the endless scroll of our phones in our beds. Blue light is a bit hard to avoid, so if you can't, we recommend 99.99% blue light blocking glasses. While you won't be the chicest person to ever watch TV while wearing them, you will definitely sleep better.
