Bibliophiles rejoice! Today is one of our favorite internet holidays, National Book Lovers Day! In honor of it, we're sharing some of our best styling tips for bookcases.
1. Start by putting all your books and big pieces on the bookcase.
While styling is important, making sure your most beloved books have a home is the primary purpose of a bookcase. Make sure you get all your must-have books and big pieces on the bookcase before styling.
2. Consider color schemes
Some people like to categorize their books by color scheme rather than by topic for a stunning visual effect. Consider this before going full steam ahead putting your books on your book case.
3. Add artwork
Next, add in the artwork that is most important to you.
4. Stack some books horizontally
Now we start to have some fun. Put some books horizontally on some shelves, or on the end of shelves with other vertically stack books for some added visual interest.
5. Add some decorative elements, including on the horizontal books
Next, throw in some decorative elements on your bookshelf. These pieces from travel or that your Collov designer picked out look great on top of the stacked books as well!
6. If something is still missing add some greenery
Is something feeling a little stale or cold? Personally, whenever I feel this way while decorating a room, I turn to plants. They have a tendency of livening things right up and add just the amount of friendly warmth the space needs.
